Linnujaam

linnujaam_logoLinnujaam is an alternative air-traffic control center of Tallinn Airport. The tower of Linnujaam consist of squatted summer house next to the airport’s territory which transforms with portable surveillance gadgets into system to monitor the flow of the flights. The objective is to learn about the order and anomalies of air traffic from a different perspective as of passenger’s . There is a sun-deck on the roof for main operations and several other areas for different actives. Linnujaam has held several happenings and events.

The technology includes a telescope, a scanner to listen radio transmissions, microphones to record the sound of the planes. The flight monitor system is being developed for the station. It resembles a live traffic information of the flights going over the territory of Estonia, flight plan of Tallinn Airport and camera stream from the airport building. Web-based interface is reachable through airport’s wireless network with a directional antenna. It gives a regular person ability to see behind the systems we use every day.
